Yoga is my North Star.

Lauren Carsona

North Star: “A fixed destination that you can depend on in your life as the world changes around you”…

        Yoga is my North Star.

I was 14 when my sister and I dropped into our first class in the back of the Jamaica Coffee House and it’s been a part of my life ever since. A place of comfort, knowing and belonging.

I started teaching Vinyasa Flow Yoga in 2013 in a studio near Mt. Hood, OR. Receiving my 200hr YTT certification from The White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara, CA where I had the honor of training under Ganga White and Tracey Rich.

Over the years I have taken my classes to many studios and places like snowboard shops after hours, open fields, a wine shop, a bar, into the forest, peoples homes, and acupuncture/massage studios. In 2018 I founded a farmers market in the Villages of Mt. Hood, the Hoodland Farmers Market which led me to connect with more creatives and healers in the community. We had fun inventing classes like “Poses & Pins” acupuncture and restorative yoga combo, sound healing with singing bowls during class, potlucks and clothing swaps after class, tea ceremonies with local herbalists, and hands on Reiki.

Taking my love and respect for this practice and turning it into an opportunity to teach it to others has been a great joy and has absolutely shifted the course of my life. In my classes I aim to hold a space where yogis can dive deeper into their practice and find a sense of curiosity even in poses they’ve done thousands of times over. A meditation in motion - striving to bring you into your body, challenging you to explore your edge, using breath as your guide. My goal is for you to have a chance to reset and to re-enter your world with a fresh perspective and leave class with a sense of balance, taking your yoga off the mat and into the world.

I’m humbled for the opportunity to teach beside Polly and the incredible instructors here at Change Yoga Studio and grateful for the opportunity to lead a weekly class here. I hope you’ll join me.
